Three generations playing Ring Around the Rosey.
You're never too old or young for it.
Nolan invited Gramma to join them at the end.
I observed Nolan learning to predict the end of the song.
He starts to fall down on "Ashes, ashes,"
instead of waiting for "We all fall down."
Nolan loves the Nutcracker ornament from Gramma's tree.
It's actually Auntie Becca's. There's a Claire to match him.
When you pull his string he does jumping jacks.
Grampa showed Nolan which ornaments were okay to play with.
Nolan never touches any other ornaments.
Nolan thinks it's his job to water the plants
He noticed Gramma has new pointsettias on her steps.
They look thirsty to Nolan.
But they are silk and don't need water.
Nolan wants to read his before nap books on his balcony,
instead of in the bedroom.
There's not much room there for Grampa.
Grampa sometimes reads Nolan's books to him twice.
Then Grampa takes his nap.
Nolan and Grampa are fixing his drill.
When something doesn't work,
Nolan immediately asks for new batteries.
Nolan stayed overnight.
He was very disappointed to find out
chips were not on the menu for breakfast.
Nolan loves wearing sunglasses.
He knows they give him the X-factor.
They're even reversible...
sort of.
And from all the corners they came seeking.
And the light shone round the family.
All hearts warmed and ran over with joy.
All is well and all is bright.
The family came from Minnesota and California.
We began our Christmas story together.
The snow came and came.
It is Illinois, after all.
Nolan opened his birthday present from Grampa;
a balance beam.
He's been making them since our children were little.
The boys were helping Gramma prepare onions for dinner.
I explained the sulfur in onions can make your eyes water.
Andrew understood what I was talking about.
Nathan was the next to succumb.
They were the most delicious onions.
The living room looked like Santa left his whole load.
Nolan loved his table and chairs.
Grampa wrapped the chairs so well,
there was no need to unwrap them to see what they were.
Nolan loves moving furniture,
so this should keep him busy.
Auntie Becca always gives the most excellent presents.
She understands boys (little ones) so well.
Gramma has indoor sleigh riding in the basement.
