Climbing a Ladder/Discovering an Ocean

This black squirrel showed up in Gramma's front yard.  I think he was looking for the boys.  He knows Nathan loves nuts, too.

Grampa is very exacting, even when he's painting a wall. He wears his reading glasses to see a straight line.

The wall is finshed and it's perfect.  The lines are straight.  The color is Grizzly Bear brown.

Nolan discovers interesting toys on the shelves to explore.

He loves that he has his own cabinets stocked with toys.

Then he discovered that the ladder on the bookshelf makes a helpful walker.

Grampa has removed the ladder.

Nolan loves to check on Grampa from the balcony in the nursery.

One of his favorite times of the day.
He now says, "Mama" and "Dada."

Nolan takes his turn at fingerprinting Gramma's glass doors.

He thinks it's funny to kiss Gramma through the glass.

Grampa and Nolan finished their Halloween decorating.

 Halloween requires a costume.

That's not really Grampa watching Lawrence Welk, is it?

Jeni said she hoped she had misunderstood when Nathan said that Angry Bird was in the potty.

When asked, "Who helps us grow?" in Sunday school, Andrew replied, "fruits and vegetables."
Too many lunches at Gramma's perhaps.

Silly putty still makes little boys silly.

Who says it never rains in California?

The California surfer boys meet the Pacific.

Gramma, for Christmas I need a surf board.

Love makes the world go round.

I can hear the music from Chicago.

Here's looking at you!

 I can't believe what I'm seeing.

Gramma's Pumpkins

Grampa repaired a shelf in the pantry.  The shelf is so strong, I could now start canning, if I had grown anything to can.  Then he rearranged the entire pantry.  He has too much time on his hands.  This took just one trip to Home Depot.

Then Grampa replaced his brake pads.  The first tire took five minutes to remove the caliper bolt.  The second tire took two hours, which included another trip to Home Depot to replace the wrench he broke.  It was not a Craftsman wrench.  Grampa Lynch only bought Craftsman; guaranteed for life.

He nearly hit my Lexus, which he parked outside after the trip to Home Depot.  He remembered it was there, but hadn't pumped the brakes sufficiently before he started to back up and applied the brakes, they nearly went to the floor.  So did his jaw.

What did Grampa sit on or back into, while fixing his car?  He went to Home Depot like that.
I saw a Wheaties t-shirt that was an obvious rag, next to the tire he was working on.  I told Grampa he needed to take better care of his clothes.  He took a look at the shirt and said, "I think I got it for free."  I laughed till my eyes leaked, when I realized he was serious.

The latest in baby technology is a wubbanub.  The pacifier is attached to a small stuffed animal, so the baby can find it in the crib and put it in his own mouth.  I remember Ryan Joseph doing surgery on Andrew's wubbanub, when they deteremined it was time to give it up.  Andrew and Gramma looked on in horror.

Nolan is working on his pilot license.  He loves the Mickey airplane.

He has no idea it can actually be ridden.

Now that Nolan is on his feet (but not walking) he can see the next level up.
The light on the router catches his eye.  Andrew used to be attracted to it, also.  They both are intrigued by the light on the dishwasher, too.  Andrew used to push Grampa's buttons (on the dishwasher).

Nolan may have a preference for mechanical engineering.  He removed the seat from the Mickey plane.  It wasn't so easy for him to reattach it, though.  When Grampa fixes things, he always has pieces left over, too.

Grampa took this picture.  He wanted to be sure Nathan knew Gramma needed his help picking out a pair of shoes that matched her ensemble.  This is the closest thing Gramma has to tennis shoes.

Grampa took apart Auntie Becca's hammock.  No more swinging in the backyard.
When we moved to the new house, the movers didn't have room for this on the truck.  Grampa put it over the top of his little car and brought it himself.  Can you imagine driving behind him?  It looked like the start of an ark.  Way to go, Grampa Noah!

Look what got "squashed" into this pumpkin.

This pumpkin is my size.

Mommy, we'll need this to carry all our pumpkins.

Sun flower power.

The Great Pumpkin is calling me.

An amazing new way to view a maze.

There's a scarecrow on that maze.

Enjoying the pumpkin farm one step at a time.

Thank Heaven, California has fall.

Hayrides!

That's a strange looking pumpkin.

The boys sure are cute in California.

Baby Rules

Grampa, remember to save some for me.

Baby Rule #1:  If there's an opening, you must go through it.

It purrs and glows, but I can't figure out how to ride it.

Grampa's checking to see if Gramma cleaned up here lately.

I'll check whether she cleaned down here.

Baby Rule #2:  If it has wheels, it's supposed to be taken apart.

Baby Rule #3:  If it opens, I need to check inside.
Gramma has this one filled with all kinds of things for me.

Gramma and Grampa are taking me out for my first Mexican dinner.

I think he must have bad breath.  Someone put mints in his mouth.
You're never supposed to turn down a mint if someone offers it.

I'm not certain when the bull riding starts, but if Grampa tries it, I will too.

The Daily Double from California

The boys love that fountains in California never have to be wrapped up and put away for the winter.

The bassist at the farmers' market allowed the boys to pluck the strings of his bass.
He was a little surprised when the boys said they were doing "pizzicato."
The bass is a step bigger than 2 Cellos.

Why do people think California is such a strange place?  It has McDonalds.

Like Gramma, Nathan enjoys reading his books.  While skyping on Friday, Andrew "read" The Very Quiet Cricket to Gramma, Grampa and Nolan.  Nolan was very entertained.

Witch boy is this?

When you throw pennies into a wishing pond,
I don't think you're supposed to try to take them out again.
But it would be very tempting.

Gramma is looking forward to going with the boys to the farmers' market.
They liked the bluegrass band the best.

Nathan is ready to fight the California fires.

Nathan helps prepare a birthday cake for Daddy.
It looks like he's learned to keep the beaters in the bowl.

Andrew hops on his hoppy ball.  Gramma just sits on hers when she teaches.
